Special Entrepreneurship Educators Edition: Fall Term Success

July 30, 2018 //  by Rhonda Abrams

Yikes. Summer is virtually over. Fall classes are just around the corner. Whether you’re dreading going back to class or are excited about getting back to teaching, we’ve got a few tricks and tips to make the transition easier.

1. Find out what courses you’re teaching

Did you forget already? Did the administration fail to tell you—again? It’s August. Figure out what courses you have and what you’re going to cover.

2. Find your course notes

Teaching the same class as last year? Find your class notes and update them.

3. Do a bit of preparation

Yes, really. You’ll feel better if you don’t wait til the very, very, very last minute.

4. Start bathing again

It was summer. You were in the pool or beach a lot—that was good enough. But now, unfortunately, you have to start thinking about personal hygiene again.

5. Stock up on your coffee

Get a new travel mug. Maybe a coffee pot for your office. Stay caffeinated!

6. Get BizGear

Hey, you want your students to actually learn about the financial and accounting aspects of business. Make it easy for you to teach and great for them to learn with this fantastic new tool. Check it out in the video below—and then contact us on how to get it for your classes.

7. Check the tech

You don’t want to be standing there the first day of class not knowing how to work the new equipment or software the administration has just installed. If you can, check out the tech you’ll need at least a week in advance.

8. Purge your social media

Your students are going to check you out. Do you really want them to see what you did on your summer vacation?

9. Ask publishers for ancillary materials

We here at PlanningShop have a whole slew of ancillary materials—PowerPoints, test banks, syllabi—for our texts. Just email us at instructors@planningshop.com.

10. Keep a flask in your bottom drawer

Fill it with the drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) of your choice…You’re going to need it.
